Somalia & Somaliland Q3 Deep Dive Report – July to September 2025 Trends and analysis (16 October 2025)

Between July and September 2025, Talk to Loopreceived ⬇️21,724 calls, with ⬇️1,338 pieces of feedback published and ⬆️351 sensitive reports handled (up from 275 last quarter). Sensitive reports rose steadily across the quarter (104 in July, 111 in August, 136 in September), confirming a strong upward trend in community trust. Loop now represents 66% of all sensitive feedback recorded through Somalia’s national CFM systems.

While open feedback from women decreased slightly, sensitive reports from women and girls increased to 89%, with nearly all (99%) describing their own experiences. Most heard about Loop through word of mouth, showing growing accessibility and confidence in the platform.

The quarter was marked by drought and flash flooding, driving sharp increases in water scarcity (17%) and requests for food and cash assistance (87%), particularly in Sanaag, Kaxda, and Deynile. Families describe extreme hunger, displacement, and debt as livelihoods collapse. Women-headed households and caregivers remain at the forefront of these appeals.

Among 117 GBV reports, 63% involved intimate partner violence and 26% sexual assault or rape, largely reported in Mogadishu. 28 reports came from minority communities, half relating to GBV. Loop made 86 referrals, with 91% acknowledged by responding organisations and 67 survivors already receiving support.

New data on Aid Effectiveness reveals systemic issues of fairness, access, and communication gaps, with communities reporting confusion over registration and a sense of exclusion. Still, messages show strong solidarity, with people advocating for others even amid crisis.
