Our Approach
We integrate climate adaptation, environmental protection, and peacebuilding to ensure communities can withstand shocks and build long-term resilience.
Our climate programming focuses on:
1. Climate Adaptation and Resilience Building
We strengthen the ability of communities to adapt to changing weather patterns through:
- Construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure (boreholes, shallow wells, and solar-powered systems).
- Promotion of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable livestock management.
- Training farmers and pastoralists on drought-resistant crops, water conservation, and soil protection.
2. Environmental Restoration
Environmental degradation drives both poverty and conflict. SAF-UK promotes ecosystem restoration by:
- Supporting community tree-planting and reforestation campaigns.
- Preventing deforestation through awareness programs and alternative livelihoods such as beekeeping and energy-saving technologies.
- Working with local authorities to enforce sustainable land use and resource management practices.
3. Climate, Peace, and Stability Linkages
We understand that climate stress can fuel conflict. That’s why we link our climate programs with peace initiatives by:
- Encouraging collaborative natural resource management among clans and neighboring communities.
- Organizing dialogues and training that promote shared understanding of climate impacts and cooperative solutions.
